RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) Pir Mehr Ali Shah Barani Agricultural University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) has made Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses mandatory across all faculties, in a major move to align students with emerging technologies and future job market demands.
The decision was taken during the 81st meeting of the Academic Council, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman. Registrar Muhammad Aqeel Sultan, deans, directors, professors and associate professors attended the meeting.
The council also approved several new degree programmes aligned with modern academic and industrial requirements, as well as confirming the minutes of its 80th meeting and reviewing various academic and administrative matters.
The newly approved programmes aim to enhance employment opportunities, promote entrepreneurial trends and equip students with modern, skill-based education. The initiatives are designed to enable graduates not only to secure jobs but also to develop leadership qualities and create self-employment opportunities.

Addressing the participants, the vice chancellor directed deans and directors to provide maximum facilities to students within the framework of academic regulations and to take effective measures to improve their skills, research capabilities and practical competence.
He said that promoting quality education, research and innovation was essential to prepare students to meet national and international challenges.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to further improve academic standards, update curricula in line with modern demands and promote research and innovation.
