Met office says the several regions will remain under severe heat conditions, with extremely high temperatures recorded across multiple cities on the previous day
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 9th, 2026) The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast continued hot and dry weather across most parts of the country as the ongoing heatwave intensifies.
The Met Office said that the several regions will remain under severe heat conditions, with extremely high temperatures recorded across multiple cities on the previous day.
Sibi remained the hottest place in the country with a maximum temperature of 49°C. Other notable readings included 48°C in Dadu and Jacobabad, 47°C in Turbat and Mohenjo Daro, 46°C in Sukkur, Nawabshah and Dera Ghazi Khan, 45°C in Multan and Bahawalpur, 43°C in Lahore, 42°C in Peshawar, and 40°C in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Karachi and Quetta recorded 37°C, while Gilgit saw a maximum of 34°C.
The Met Office said the current heatwave is expected to continue until June 12, with most districts of Sindh likely to experience moderate to severe heat during this period.
For Karachi, the department forecast that hot and dry conditions will persist through June 12, with temperatures expected to rise up to 42°C. The city may record a maximum temperature of around 39°C on Tuesday.
