ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th May, 2026) Saudi Arabia’s healthcare system has provided more than 1.27 million health services to pilgrims since the start of Hajj 1447 AH, reflecting one of the largest medical operations undertaken during the annual pilgrimage.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the total number of healthcare services delivered to pilgrims reached 1,273,380 by the 11th of Dhul-Hijjah as part of comprehensive efforts to safeguard pilgrims' health and ensure safe performance of Hajj rituals.
It said, 68,237 pilgrims benefited from Primary healthcare and urgent care centers, while emergency departments handled 52,709 cases and outpatient clinics received 21,253 visitors.
SPA told APP around 5,772 patients were hospitalized during the Hajj season, while medical teams carried out 365 surgeries, including 291 cardiac catheterization procedures and 30 open-heart surgeries.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Healthcare teams also responded to 1,260 cases of heat exhaustion and heat-related illnesses through a field-based emergency response system operating across Makkah and the holy sites.
Authorities said preventive health measures and awareness campaigns continued alongside treatment services to protect pilgrims during the peak days of Hajj.
The unified health hotline 937 received more than one million calls during the season, highlighting the extensive healthcare support network available to pilgrims.
Saudi health authorities said medical teams would continue providing advanced healthcare services throughout the remaining days of Hajj to ensure pilgrims complete their rituals in safety, comfort and good health.
