1.4kg heroin seized at inter-provincial checkpost; KP-Punjab smuggling attempt foiled

ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Hassanabdal Police on Tuesday decisively foiled a bid to smuggle 1.4 kilograms of heroin from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) into Punjab, arresting an alleged drug courier at an inter-provincial checkpost. The operation was carried out during a routine yet vigilant inspection, underscoring the force’s sustained crackdown on organised crime.

According to the police spokesman, a team led by Station House Officer Tahir Iqbal intercepted the suspect at the strategic checkpoint. Acting swiftly and efficiently, officers recovered the substantial quantity of heroin and took the accused into custody. The suspect was identified as Imtiaz Khan, a native of Swabi, who was reportedly attempting to transport the illicit consignment across provincial lines.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to being part of an inter-provincial drug-smuggling network. Moreover, he revealed that narcotics had previously been supplied to various parts of the country through the same organised channel. Authorities described the network as highly coordinated and deeply entrenched, posing a serious threat to public safety.

Subsequently, a case was registered against the accused under Section 9-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act. Meanwhile, police have launched a comprehensive investigation to trace other members of the gang.
