10 deserving couples wed under KP government-sponsored collective ceremony in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD D, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) The District Zakat Office, under the supervision of the district administration and directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, arranged collective marriages for 10 deserving couples.

Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Salim Akram who attended the ceremony, congratulated the newlyweds and their parents, and distributed cheques of PKR 200,000 among the women. He praised the initiative as a commendable step in times of inflation and urged the affluent to support the needy.

District Zakat Committee Chairman Tariq Mehmood briefed the attendees on the government's welfare measures. Retiring officers were honored, and certificates were awarded to girls completing a six-month internship.

Chairpersons from Mansehra and Haripur districts also participated in the event.
