LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) In a sweeping crackdown against profiteering,the district administration Lahore, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Muhammad Ali Ejaz,imposed fines worth Rs.110,000, arrested 11 individuals and sealed eight shop during operations across the city,here on Tuesday.
Assistant commissioners and price control magistrates carried out 4336 inspections in various zones,including wholesale markets and supply points to ensure implementation of officially notified rates.
Authorities remained active in the field,enforcing price lists and curbing instances of overcharging.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy,the DC directed strict daily monitoring of markets and warned of decisive action against violators.
He also emphasized the need to maintain uninterrupted supply of essential commodities,ordering immediate action against hoarders involved in artificial price hikes.
The administration maintained that availability of essential items at notified rates was being ensured,adding that vegetable supply in city markets remained sufficient.
