129 vehicles impounded during ongoing fare control drive

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday deployed special squads across the city and surrounding areas to ensure fixed fares and provide relief to passengers during Eid-ul-Fitr, officials said.

The teams,operating under the supervision of Secretary RTA Malik Muhammad Tahir were monitoring overcharging,excess fare collection,overloading and carrying of additional passengers at bus stands and on routes.

So far,1,474 vehicles have been inspected with 129 impounded for charging excess fares.

Fines totaling Rs.583,000 have been imposed,while passengers have been refunded Rs.259,000.

Secretary Malik Muhammad Tahir said the campaign aims not only to enforce regulations but also to ensure transporters charge only the fixed fare and treat passengers fairly.

The squads will continue their field duties until the return of passengers after Eid.
