130 robbery gangs, 339 suspects held in 6 months

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) Faisalabad police dismantled 130 notorious robbery gangs, arrested 339 hardened criminals, and recovered stolen valuables worth nearly Rs100 million from their possession during the first half of 2026.

Police said here on Wednesday that the operation was carried out during the current year as part of a comprehensive strategy to eliminate organized criminal networks involved in robberies, dacoities, and other serious offences.

He said that the police successfully unearthed and neutralized several criminal gangs through effective human intelligence, extensive surveillance and the use of modern technology, including CCTV footage analysis and digital tracking.

He said that the police recovered 130 stolen motorcycles, 8 rickshaws and 40 mobile phones from the arrested accused besides reclaiming jewelry, batteries, electric wires, other stolen valuables, and 76 heads of cattle. Total value of the recovered property is estimated at approximately Rs100 million, he added.

He said that the police also seized a large cache of illegal weapons from the accused including 148 pistols, 2 pump-action guns, 2 revolvers and a substantial quantity of ammunition.

The investigators traced the secure hideouts of criminal gangs through advanced technological tools and intelligence-based operations, enabling law enforcement teams to arrest key members involved in serious crimes, he added.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain appreciated the outstanding performance of police officers and investigators for conducting successful operations against organized crime.

He however directed them to further accelerate intelligence-led policing and continue indiscriminate action against criminal elements.

He said that the arrest of hardened offenders involved in heinous crimes reflected effective leadership, professional policing and a well-planned operational strategy.

Faisalabad would not become a safe heaven for criminals, the CPO said and vowed that all lawbreakers would be brought to justice and awarded them exemplary punishment in accordance with the law.
