ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) In the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), ongoing operations by Indian forces have resulted in the deaths of fourteen Kashmiris over the past four months, reflecting a continuing pattern of violence against civilians.

According to the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, at least 33 civilians were injured today due to the excessive use of force by Indian police and paramilitary forces against defenseless Kashmiris.

During this period, the Indian Army, Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force, Special Operations Group, and agencies like Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) arrested over 1,028 civilians, including youth, students, activists and women. Many were booked under draconian laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Public Safety Act (PSA) during 908 cordon-and-search operations and house raids.

The administration, led by New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and under the control of the Indian Home Minister, has intensified suppression in Kashmir. Seventy-two properties including houses, lands, shops, institutions, and vehicles of activists have been seized.

These illegal confiscations are part of the BJP-led Indian government’s strategy to economically strangle Kashmiris and silence their political dissent and aspirations for freedom.

These confiscations are a calculated move by the BJP-led Indian government to crush Kashmiris economically, intimidate dissenters and violently suppress any demand for freedom, leaving the people of IIOJK under relentless state tyranny.
