15,000 illegal cigarette packs seized

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2026) The district administration in Sargodha seized a large quantity of locally manufactured cigarettes during a raid in Madh Ranjha,a suburb of Tehsil Kotmoman, officials said on Saturday.

Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry,a joint operation was carried out by the para force,tehsildar and revenue team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Kotmoman Akhtar Malik.

During the raid,15,000 packets of cigarettes were recovered and taken into custody.

According to initial investigations,the cigarettes were being manufactured at the facility without payment of applicable duties and taxes.

The premises were reportedly being used as both a production unit and a warehouse.

The administration sealed the factory on the spot and initiated the process of registering a case against those involved.

DC said that indiscriminate action against tax evasion and illegal production would continue,adding that such networks would be taken to their logical end in accordance with the law.
