1500kg explosive used in Domel Police Station's failed attack: claims DIG

BANNU, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) DIG Bannu Region, Sajad Khan on Friday said that the police successfully foiled a terrorist attack on Domel Police Station here in which 1000 to 1500 kg explosive was used.

In a media briefing, he said militants attempted to ram a vehicle laden with 1,000 to 1,500 kilograms of explosives into the police station wall. However, alert police personnel opened timely fire, forcing the suicide attacker to detonate the explosives before reaching the station.

He said the devastating blast killed five members of a single family and injured 13 others, including police personnel.

The explosion caused widespread panic, with the blast audible from a distance. Nearby buildings sustained structural damage, including collapsed roofs, while several houses were affected.

The DIG stated that terrorists would never succeed in their malicious objectives. “Bannu police is determined to confront all forms of terrorism. Targeting innocent civilians is an act of cowardice, and we will ensure such perpetrators are brought to justice. Protecting lives and property of the public remains our top priority,” he said.

Later, the DIG visited Domel Police Station and affected homes, offered condolences to the bereaved families, recited Fatiha for the deceased, and expressed deep grief.

He assured that the police would stand with the victims and provide all possible support during this difficult time.
