16,881 proclaimed offenders arrested this year so far

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2026) Punjab Police have arrested 16,881 proclaimed offenders across the province, including Lahore, during the current year as part of a vigorous and sustained crackdown against criminals involved in heinous offences.

According to a spokesperson, those arrested include 5,497 Category-A and 11,384 Category-B proclaimed offenders. In addition, police teams apprehended 5,355 court absconders, including 1,161 Category-A and 4,194 Category-B, while 2,543 habitual criminals were also taken into custody, comprising 777 Category-A and 1,766 Category-B offenders.

In the provincial capital alone, 3,057 proclaimed offenders, 2,104 court absconders and 787 habitual criminals were arrested during the ongoing operations.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem commended the police teams for their performance and directed that the crackdown against proclaimed offenders and absconders be further intensified and expedited across the province to ensure effective enforcement of law.
