16 drug peddlers held with over 27kg of narcotics

KHANEWAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) Khanewal Police have arrested 16 alleged drug peddlers and recovered around 26 kilograms of Hashish, 1.2 kilograms of crystal meth (ICE), besides 95 litres of liquor during a district-wide crackdown launched under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ‘Drug-Free Punjab’ campaign.

According to police spokesman, the operations were carried out in different police station jurisdictions on the directions of District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid.

The campaign also targeted illegal weapons, resulting in the arrest of three suspects for possessing unlicensed firearms including three 30-bore pistols.

DPO said the crackdown on drug-traffickers and illegal arms holders would continue without discrimination in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

He urged citizens to report the activities of drug dealers, assuring them that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
