At least 16 people were killed and 1,703 others injured in 1,429 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department Punjab

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) At least 16 people were killed and 1,703 others injured in 1,429 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department Punjab.

A spokesperson said that rescue teams responded to accidents in all 37 districts of the province, shifting 798 seriously injured victims to hospitals, while providing first aid to 905 others at the scene, reducing pressure on healthcare facilities.

The spokesperson said that motorbikes were involved in 78 percent of the accidents, highlighting the need for strict enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline.

The data showed that among the victims were 917 drivers, 64 underage drivers, 178 pedestrians and 624 passengers.

Lahore topped the list with 208 accidents affecting 245 people, followed by Faisalabad with 93 accidents and 111 victims, and Multan with 91 accidents and 99 victims.

A total of 1,719 victims included 1,320 men and 399 women. Among them, 283 were under 18 years of age, 924 were between 18 and 40 years, while 512 were above 40 years.

According to the report, the accidents involved 1,507 motorbikes, 86 auto-rickshaws, 182 cars, 32 vans, 20 passenger buses, 52 trucks and 61 other vehicles, including slow-moving carts, the spokesperson added.
