GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) The District Health Authority (DHA) Gujrat is continuing a routine immunisation campaign
for high-risk mobile and migrant populations, targeting around 18,000 children
under the age of five.
According to official sources, the campaign is being carried out under the supervision
of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) District Health Authority Dr Syed Ata-ul-Munim to prevent
the spread of polio virus.
Children from nomadic and brick kiln communities are being administered
anti-polio drops.
The sources said recent environmental tests for poliovirus in Gujrat remained negative.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>However, poor sanitation, lack of safe drinking water and overcrowded living conditions
in high-risk communities could increase the risk of virus transmission.
They said continuation of the routine immunisation campaign was essential to prevent
any possible outbreak.
Dr Syed Ata-ul-Munim appreciated the efforts of Union Council Medical Officers (UCMOs),
vaccinators and mobile teams for continuing the campaign despite the recent rains.
He urged them to maintain their efforts to ensure maximum vaccination coverage among
children in vulnerable communities.
