2 suspects injured, arrested in police encounters

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) A suspected street criminal and a suspected drug peddler were shot and injured before being arrested in separate encounters carried out in the limits of Bhitai Nagar and Sakhi Pir police stations.The police spokesman Inspector Shahid Usman informed here on Sunday that the Bhitai Nagar police was engaged in an exchange of fire by 3 suspected street criminals near Alamdar Chowk in Qasimabad.He added that one suspect, Nisar Chandio, sustained a gunshot to his leg and fell from their motorbike but his 2 accomplices succeeded in escaping from the spot.Chandio, who was already booked in 2 FIRs at Baldia and Qasimabad police stations, was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) for surgery of his gunshot wound.

The spokesman told that another encounter occurred near Sattar Shah graveyard between a team of Sakhi Pir police station and 2 suspected drug peddlers.According to him, a suspect booked in 7 FIRs at Sakhi Pir and Market police stations, Muhammad Shahid Qureshi, was hit by a bullet during the cross-fire but his associate managed to escape.The Inspector apprised that 3 more FIRs for assaulting police, recovery of over 2 kilograms of hashish and unlicensed pistol were registered against Qureshi who was shifted to the LUH for a surgery.
