GUJRAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) A total of 20 farmers were selected through a transparent balloting process under the laser land levelers subsidy scheme held at the DC Complex.
The scheme aimed to promote efficient water use in agriculture under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Sona Ugalta Punjab” initiative.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Waqar Safdar Sikandari, Director Water Management Gujranwala Muhammad Imran, Deputy Director Water Management Gujrat Muhammad Usman Aslam, Assistant Director Water Management Muhammad Akram Laghari and a large number of farmers attended the ceremony.
Under the scheme, the Punjab government was providing a subsidy of Rs600,000 per laser land leveler. A total of 112 applications were received from across the district, out of which 71 were declared eligible after scrutiny.
From the eligible applicants, 20 farmers were selected through balloting, including 14 from Tehsil Gujrat and six from Tehsil Kharian.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC (R) said that farmer-friendly initiatives of the provincial government would play an important role in strengthening the agriculture sector and improving water management.
