KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2026) Karachi's city administration has intensified crackdown against buildings and businesses failing to comply with fire safety regulations, sealing around 200 shops here at Hashoo Center.
According to officials, the action was carried out by Assistant Commissioner Saddar, Ghazanfar Perdakh, who took strict measures against shop owners for not implementing mandatory fire safety requirements at Hashoo Center. Prior warnings had been issued to the owners, urging them to fulfill safety standards before enforcement action was taken.
The Assistant Commissioner has submitted a detailed report of the operation to Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.
Commissioner Naqvi has directed all deputy commissioners to ensure that buildings across the city strictly adhere to fire safety rules, emphasizing that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
This marks the second such action by the Karachi administration within two days. Earlier, Assistant Commissioner Ferozabad, Javeria Ashraf, sealed Mateen Plaza on Tariq Road over similar violations of fire safety regulations.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to enforcing safety measures to prevent potential hazards and ensure public safety.
