2100 new community schools set up in Balochistan, 136,000 out-of-school children re-joined educational stream: CS

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The ongoing strategic projects for sustainable development and public welfare in Balochistan have rapidly entered the completion stage and significant progress is being seen in various sectors.

This was expressed in meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Secretary (CS) Shakeel Qadir Khan, in which a detailed review of the ongoing development projects and reform measures across the province was taken.

While briefing the meeting, it was informed that significant progress has been made in the People's Train Service project and its coaches have been completely prepared, as the regular start of train operations is expected on August 14, which would prove to be an important milestone in providing better travel facilities to the people.

Significant success has also been achieved in the education sector where 2100 new community schools have been established across Balochistan, as a result of which more than 136,000 out-of-school children have been re-integrated into the educational stream.

While mentioning the progress in the health sector, it was informed that Balochistan has surpassed other provinces in the routine immunization program and 94 percent of the targets have been successfully achieved, which is an important honor.

The meeting also considered important steps in the energy sector, especially the progress on off-grid projects for providing cheap electricity in remote districts.

In this regard, it was decided to invite the private sector for partnership, through which it would be possible to obtain electricity at a low cost of up to 50 percent. Various suggestions have also been sought to implement the project.

Regarding the improvement of law and order and urban facilities, it was learnt in the briefing that the target has been set to declare 8 important cities of Balochistan as safe cities by June 30, which would significantly improve the urban security system.

While reviewing the progress on clean water supply projects, the meeting was informed that a plan to install 1255 filtration plants in 900 union councils of the province is underway, the pace of which has been decided to be further accelerated so that clean and safe water could be provided to the public.

Regarding the development of youth, the selection of 620 more candidates has been completed under the Chief Minister Youth Skills Development Program and work visas have also been issued to them, which is an important step towards creating new employment opportunities for the youth.

Positive progress is also being made in the irrigation sector, where work on five dams is in full swing and with the completion of these projects, more than 42,000 acres of land is expected to be irrigated, which will increase agricultural production.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan said that timely completion of development projects is the top priority of the government and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.

He clarified that there would be no compromise on transparency and quality in public welfare projects saying that ongoing reforms in the energy, education and health sectors were yielding positive results, while the development process was being made more effective and faster through inter-agency coordination.

The Chief Secretary directed the concerned authorities to ensure continuous monitoring of the progress of all projects so that the set targets could be achieved in time.
