27 criminal gangs busted, looted valuables recovered

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Police have intensified crackdown against street crime and organized criminal networks, arresting 58 members of 27 gangs involved in robbery, motorcycle and vehicle theft, and snatching incidents across the city.

Holding a press conference on Thursday, City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar said that during the ongoing operations, stolen property worth more than Rs 86.2 million was recovered, including one car, 73 motorcycles and cash exceeding Rs 38.2 million. The police also seized a large quantity of narcotics, including 35 kilograms of hashish, 21 kilograms of heroin, 18 kilograms of ice, and 7,846 litres of liquor.

He disclosed that the police have also recovered illegal weapons including 61 pistols, four revolvers, 15 shotguns and 191 rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, 269 proclaimed offenders and 115 court absconders were also arrested, while 802 criminal cases were successfully traced, the CPO added.

He further disclosed that the Cantt Circle arrested 20 members of 11 gangs and recovered stolen property worth over Rs 17.7 million, including 24 motorcycles and cash exceeding Rs 10.9 million, while tracing 262 cases. The Mumtazabad Circle arrested 19 suspects belonging to seven gangs and the Muzaffarabad Circle arrested 19 members of nine gangs.

The operations were carried out under the supervision of SSP Operations Haider Ali and SP Cantt Kainat Azhar. Special police teams, led by SDPOs, DSPs and SHOs of various police stations, utilized modern policing applications and technology to trace the gangs and recover stolen property, he added.

CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar appreciated the performance of the police teams, stating that sustained operations would continue to eliminate crime from the city. He said the recovered valuables were handed over to their rightful owners, who expressed satisfaction and thanked the police for their efforts.
