ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Islamabad has recorded the registration of 4,466 bike-hailing and taxi drivers in the last four days through its city app, while 14 motorcycles were seized for operating without registration, as the district administration moves to regulate ride services and improve passenger safety.
Registration of bike-hailing and taxi drivers is continuing in the Federal capital under a drive launched by the Islamabad district administration.
Drivers are required to complete registration through the Islamabad City App, which is being monitored through a central dashboard.
According to official data, a total of 4,466 drivers completed registration during the last four days.
The figures include drivers operating bike-hailing services as well as taxis across different sectors of the city.
The administration said the process is open and drivers can apply at any time through the app.
The district administration has also started action against unregistered services. Officials confirmed that 14 motorcycles were shifted to police stations after their riders were found operating bike-hailing services without completing registration.
The administration warned that similar action will continue against violators.
After completing registration, drivers are required to display a QR code on their mobile phone screen during service.
This QR code allows passengers to scan and verify the driver’s identity before starting their journey.
Officials said this step enables citizens to confirm whether a driver is registered with the district administration.
Drivers have also been directed to provide details of each ride and travel information as part of the registration conditions.
The administration said these records will help in monitoring services and addressing complaints when required.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon said the registration initiative aims to ensure safer travel for citizens using bike-hailing and taxi services.
He stated that verified drivers and available ride information would help reduce risks for passengers.
The deputy commissioner appealed to citizens to avoid using unregistered bike-hailing or taxi services.
He urged passengers to scan the QR code before starting their journey and report any driver found operating without registration.
The district administration said the registration drive will continue in the coming days and enforcement will be increased to ensure compliance across the city.
Officials added that public cooperation is necessary for the system to work effectively and for travel to remain safe
