4 die, 12 injured as mortar shell hits market in Hangu

At least four people died and 12 others injured in a mortar shell attack in a market near a petrol pump in the Dorri Banda area of Hangu on Thursday, police said

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) At least four people died and 12 others injured in a mortar shell attack in a market near a petrol pump in the Dorri Banda area of Hangu on Thursday, police said.

According to police, the mortar shell landed in market during an exchange of fire in the area.

The explosion caused panic among residents and further heightened tensions in the region.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Amjad Hussain, said the injured were immediately shifted to the nearby hospitals. Later, two seriously injured were shifted to Peshawar.

He added that police and security forces were continuing an operation against militants, while security has been tightened across the area.

Meanwhile, clashes between militants and police were also reported in Zargari area.
