Intensity of shaking on surface remained moderate in most areas.
Earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
Authorities said the earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale, and there were no immediate reports of deaths or damage.
The tremors were felt in the federal capital Islamabad and in many areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Residents reported shaking in Malakand, Mardan, Khyber, Jamrud, Swat, Shangla, and Chitral. In some places, people briefly rushed outside in panic.
The shaking was also felt in nearby regions, showing that a wide area was affected.
However, the tremors were short, and no structural damage was reported.
The Seismological Center confirmed the earthquake’s magnitude as 5.4 on the Richter scale. Officials said it occurred at a depth of 215 kilometers, which usually reduces damage on the surface.
The epicenter was located in the mountain region of Mount Kundukash.
Because of the deep origin, the intensity of shaking on the surface remained moderate in most areas.
Authorities said there are still no reports of loss of life or property damage. Emergency services remain on alert in case of aftershocks or further seismic activity
