5.6-magnitude quake hits South Sandwich Islands region

BERLIN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 17th Feb, 2026) An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude struck the South Sandwich Islands region at 03:36 GMT on Tuesday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.

The epicentre, at a depth of 10.0 kilometres, was initially located at 57.35 degrees south latitude and 30.30 degrees west longitude.
