5 civilians injured as mortar shell hits market in Hangu

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) At least five civilians were injured after a mortar shell struck a market in Dorri Banda area of Hangu district on Thursday, escalating tensions in the region amid ongoing clashes between militants and police in the Zarghari area.

According to police, the mortar shell landed in a civilian market near a petrol pump during an exchange of fire in the area. The impact caused panic among residents and left five people wounded.

DSP Amjad Hussain stated that the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where they are receiving medical treatment. He added that police and security forces are continuing an operation against militants, while security has been tightened across the area to prevent further incidents.
