56 dacoit gangs busted, stolen valuables of Rs46.8m recovered

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) The police intensified operations against organized crime and arrested 146 active members of 56 dacoit gangs during the current year in addition to recovering stolen property worth more than Rs46.821 million from their possession.

Police spokesman said here on Wednesday that police teams by utilizing CCTV surveillance and modern technical resources traced and apprehended the accused who were wanted in multiple cases of dacoity, robbery and theft.

During operations, the police recovered a significant cache of stolen items including 132 motorcycles, 16 mobile phones, gold ornaments, batteries, electric wires and other valuables along with 28 heads of livestock, he added.

He said that law enforcement agencies also seized a large quantity of illegal weapons from the accused including 67 pistols, two pump-action 12-bore guns and numerous rounds of ammunition during this period.

Meanwhile, City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar said that protecting lives and property of citizens remains the top priority of Faisalabad police.

The police department would continue indiscriminate action against criminal elements and ensure a safe environment for the public, he added.
