At least six people were killed and five others injured in two separate incidents of armed violence in Dera Ismail Khan district on Thursday, police and local sources said

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jul, 2026) At least six people were killed and five others injured in two separate incidents of armed violence in Dera Ismail Khan district on Thursday, police and local sources said.

In the first incident, six people were killed and two others injured in an exchange of fire between two rival groups in the Shah Hassan Khel area, within the jurisdiction of Nawab Shaheed Police Station.

According to local sources, the clash erupted over a dispute between the two groups, resulting in heavy gunfire. Five people from one group and one person from the rival group lost their lives, while two others sustained injuries.

The deceased were identified as Naqeeb, Tahir, Zubair, Sher Nawaz, Hidayatullah, and one member of the rival group. Local residents shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital before the arrival of rescue teams.

Police reached the scene, secured the area, and launched a search operation to arrest those involved.

Meanwhile, elders and community representatives from Abdul Khel proceeded towards Shah Hassan Khel carrying white flags in an effort to mediate between the rival groups, restore peace, and prevent further bloodshed.

In another incident, a woman and two children were injured after unidentified attackers allegedly hurled a hand grenade and opened fire at a house in the Wanda Ali area of Kirri Khaisor.

Police said the attack targeted the residence of a man identified as Iqbal. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Following the incident, family members and local residents staged a protest outside the office of the SP Paharpur, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible and enhanced security arrangements.

Police said investigations into both incidents were underway, while efforts were being made to identify and apprehend those involved. Security has also been tightened in the affected areas to prevent any further unrest.
