SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) The district administration launched a massive crackdown against overcharging and transport rule violations during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, impounding 74 vehicles and imposing fines totaling Rs 307,500.
Following the directives of Deputy Commissioner Husnain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry, special squads led by Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Malik Muhammad Tahir conducted extensive inspections across various highways, bus terminals, and transport routes in the district.
According to an official handout issued by the Directorate of Information Punjab, the special teams checked a total of 1,244 vehicles to make sure compliance with transport regulations.
During the operation, 74 vehicles were impounded for various violations, while fines amounting to Rs 307,500 were slapped on transporters found involved in overcharging and other illegal practices.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Additionally, the enforcement teams ensured the refund of Rs 76,000 to passengers who were overcharged by transport owners.
The Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Husnain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry stated that providing relief to the masses remained the top priority of the district administration.
He warned that indiscriminate action would continue against elements involved in overcharging, overloading, and violating traffic rules.
The DC also appealed to the citizens to immediately report any instances of overcharging or transport-related grievances to the relevant authorities for prompt legal action.
