PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) The district administration Peshawar carried out a crackdown against profiteering here Tuesday and arrested 75 shopkeepers for exorbitant prices and absence of official price list.
The inspection of the shops was carried out on University Road, Charsadda Road, G.T Road, Dalzak Road, Circular Road, in inner city markets, Hayatabad, Ring Road, Kohat Road, Pajgi Road and other localities of the district.
During the operations, 75 shopkeepers were arrested for exorbitant prices, absence of official price list and other offences. These arrested shopkeepers include butchers, vegetable and fruit vendors, milk vendors and others.

According to Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Captain (Retd) Sanaullah Khan, administrative officers in the provincial capital issue official price lists in vegetable and fruit markets on a daily basis and later ensure implementation of the official price lists throughout the district.
He said that administrative officers have been ordered to continuously inspect markets across Peshawar and take legal action on complaints of high prices.
