RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a raid on a meat shop near Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and seized around 800 kilograms of substandard and hazardous meat, which was later destroyed on the spot.
According to PFA spokesman, the recovered meat was found to be water-injected, foul-smelling and unverified.
A veterinary doctor present at the scene declared it unfit for human consumption and hazardous to public health.
Officials said the destroyed meat was worth approximately Rs900,000.
During the operation, a case was registered against the shop owner, while it was also revealed that the workers lacked medical certificates, in violation of food safety regulations.
The authority said its crackdown against substandard meat would continue and that no compromise would be made on public health. Citizens were urged to report suspected food items to the helpline 1223.
