9 touts arrested in surprise operation outside excise office in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) A surprise operation led by the Assistant Commissioner Potohar and Magistrate I-9 resulted in the arrest of 9 touts outside the Excise and Taxation Office.

The action was taken following public complaints about individuals charging extra money and offering unauthorized assistance in government-related matters.

According to an official spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Potohar and Magistrate I-9 Raja Shoaib Afzal carried out a surprise operation against touts operating around the Excise and Taxation Office.

During the raid, nine individuals were taken into custody for allegedly misleading citizens, interfering in official procedures, and charging money for services related to government work. The suspects were shifted to a local police station, where legal proceedings have been initiated against them.

Speaking on the occasion, Raja Shoaib Afzal said that the administration would continue taking action against people involved in illegal activities outside government offices. He stated that no one would be allowed to exploit citizens by offering unauthorized services or collecting money in the name of facilitating official work.

He emphasized that citizens do not need the help of touts or agents to obtain government services. All official matters, he said, are handled according to established rules and procedures, and the public should approach the relevant offices directly for assistance.

The Assistant Commissioner also urged citizens to cooperate with the administration by reporting any touts, agents, or individuals involved in unlawful activities outside government offices. He said timely information from the public would help authorities take prompt and effective action against such elements.

The administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining an orderly environment around public offices and ensuring that government services remain accessible to citizens through proper channels. The latest operation is part of ongoing efforts to address public complaints and discourage illegal practices linked to official procedures.
