ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) The ongoing four-day anti-polio campaign in the Federal capital reached its third day with 408,123 children vaccinated, bringing the overall progress to 91 percent of the set target, officials said.
The district administration and health department reviewed the campaign’s performance in a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad. Senior officers from both departments attended the session and discussed the field progress, team performance, and remaining targets.
According to the briefing, field teams maintained steady coverage across different areas of the city during the first three days of the campaign.
Officials said that all reported refusal cases during this period had been revisited and covered, ensuring that children who were initially missed received the vaccine.
The meeting included a detailed review of how teams operated in the field. Authorities assessed daily targets, identified gaps, and discussed steps to ensure full coverage before the campaign concludes. Special attention was given to areas where access or response had been slower.
Security arrangements for polio workers were also discussed.
Officials reviewed measures in place to ensure safe movement of teams and uninterrupted vaccination activity. Challenges faced by workers in the field, including access issues and public response, were highlighted and addressed during the session.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said that reaching every child remains the top priority of the campaign. He stressed that no child should be left without vaccination and directed teams to continue their work with focus during the remaining days.
He also called on residents to cooperate with field teams, stating that public support is necessary for the success of the campaign. He urged parents to ensure that their children receive polio drops during the drive.
Officials said that the campaign is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate polio from the country. They added that consistent participation by families and effective field work are key to achieving complete coverage.
The campaign will continue for the remaining day, with teams working to reach children who may still have been missed. Authorities expressed confidence that the set target will be fully achieved by the end of the drive if the current pace continues.
