MAKKAH MUKARRAMAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Director Hajj Makkah, Mohammad Arif Aslam Rao, termed the 'Nusuk Card' introduced by the Saudi government as much more than just an identity document, describing it as a "digital guardian" that ensures the safety and seamless travel of Pakistani pilgrims during the Hajj season.
Talking to APP, Rao urged all pilgrims to keep their Nusuk Card with them at all times when leaving their residences, emphasizing that entry into the Holy Sites including Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah will be strictly prohibited without it.Highlighting a critical aspect of the card's utility, the Director Hajj noted that pilgrims often lose their way due to the massive crowds.
He explained that the QR code on the Nusuk Card serves as a complete digital map for the pilgrim. If a pilgrim gets lost or cannot find their designated tent, security personnel can scan the card to immediately identify their specific Maktab, tent number, and hotel location.
Rao noted that this feature is the greatest facility provided this year, especially for elderly and first-time pilgrims who may face navigational challenges.Rao further detailed that this year, the card is available in both physical plastic and digital formats via the Nusuk App.
He advised pilgrims to download the application on their smartphones as a vital backup.
This hybrid system ensures that if a physical card is misplaced or left at a residence, the digital version can be presented to authorities as a legal alternative, ensuring that the pilgrim's movement and access to services remain uninterrupted.
The Director Hajj also briefed pilgrims on the Saudi authorities' strict enforcement of the "No Hajj Without Permit" (La Hajj Bila Tasreeh) policy.
He warned that security forces within Makkah and at all entrances to the Holy Sites are authorized to demand the Nusuk Card at any time. Carrying the card serves as definitive proof that a pilgrim is legally registered, granting them full and immediate access to all government-provided amenities and emergency medical facilities.
To ensure a hassle-free experience, Mohammad Arif Aslam Rao issued specific safety guidelines for Pakistani pilgrims. He recommended wearing the physical card around the neck in a protective plastic cover and keeping a digital photograph of it on their mobile phones or with a travel companion.
He concluded by stating that while the Pakistan Hajj Mission is working tirelessly to guide and support pilgrims, their individual cooperation and the diligent use of the Nusuk Card are vital for a safe and successful Hajj journey.
