ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi paid rich tribute to railway workers on the occasion of Labour Day, describing them as the true backbone of the institution and a driving force behind its progress.
In his message on Friday, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare and uplift of railway employees, announcing a series of transformative measures aimed at improving their quality of life.
He said that comprehensive reforms were being implemented to ensure better facilities for workers and their families.
Highlighting key initiatives, the minister said that Pakistan Railways schools and hospitals were being outsourced to enhance service delivery. He emphasized that this move would ensure free, high-quality education for the children of railway employees, along with improved healthcare services for workers and their families.
“Providing modern and quality education free of cost to the children of railway employees is our top priority,” Abbasi said, adding that railway hospitals will also offer free and standard medical facilities to workers and their dependents.
The minister further announced the up-gradation of running rooms for railway guards and operational staff. These facilities, he said are being modernized to provide a comfortable and peaceful environment, enabling employees to rest properly during duty hours. He expressed the confidence that improved facilities would significantly enhance employee performance and overall efficiency within the department.
Reiterating the government’s resolve, Abbasi said that ensuring a safe, dignified and well-equipped working environment for labourers remained a key priority. The minister said that the prosperity and well-being of workers were essential for the sustainable development of Pakistan Railways.
