Abbottabad admin seals mining tunnel after fatal accident in Lower Tanawal

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Following a tragic incident at Feroz Mining in Tehsil Lower Tanawal, the Abbottabad administration took immediate action to ensure safety at the site.

According to the details, officials inspected Mine No. 6 in Khanda Kho, where a fatality had recently occurred.

During the inspection, it was discovered that safety measures and standard operating procedures at the mining site were being violated, posing serious risks to human life.

In response, Tunnel No. 6 and the explosive magazine EL-04 were sealed on-site to prevent any further accidents. The mine administration has been strictly instructed not to resume any operations at the sealed areas until the ongoing investigation is completed and further orders are issued.

The inspection revealed multiple violations of safety protocols and standard operating procedures at the mining site, highlighting the severe risk posed to workers.

Tunnel No. 6 and the explosive magazine EL-04 were immediately sealed to prevent any further tragic incidents.

Officials noted that this is not the first accident in the area. Over the past few years, several fatalities and injuries have been reported at various mining sites in Lower Tanawal due to inadequate safety measures, lack of proper supervision, and non-compliance with established SOPs. These recurring incidents have raised serious concerns about the enforcement of mining regulations in the district.

The Abbottabad administration has issued strict instructions to the mine management that no activity will be allowed at the sealed locations until the investigation is completed and further orders are given.

Authorities have emphasized that strict compliance with safety standards is mandatory to protect human lives and prevent any future mishaps.
