Abbottabad administration finalizes Muharram security plan, bans entry of 17 speakers

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) The district administration has imposed a one-month ban on the entry of 17 alleged firebrand speakers and religious scholars as part of security measures for Muharram-ul-Haram 2026.

According to an official handout, the decision was taken by Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, following recommendations from the District Police Office to maintain peace and sectarian harmony during the holy month.

The entry restrictions will remain in force from June 16, 2026, for one month. The administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against any violation of the order.

The list of individuals restricted from entering the district includes several religious and political figures.

In a separate development, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner to review the contingency plan for Muharram 2026 and ensure comprehensive security and administrative arrangements across Abbottabad.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from police, district administration, health, Rescue 1122, local government, and other relevant departments.

Officials reviewed arrangements for processions, religious gatherings, municipal services, and implementation of SOPs in line with provincial government guidelines. It was also decided to establish a central command and control center to ensure real-time coordination among departments.

The administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, inter-sectarian harmony, and ensuring all necessary public facilitation during Muharram.

Authorities also directed strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act, ban on provocative content, and wall chalking, with Section 144 already in effect across the district
