ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) In a bid to protect the sanctity of educational institutions and safeguard public health, the Abbottabad district administration has launched a vigorous crackdown against the sale of cigarettes and other illegal activities in the vicinity of schools and colleges.
Acting upon the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, the administration has ramped up its enforcement drive across the city.
Additional Assistant Commissioners Kamran Ali Shah, Muhammad Tariq, and Afshin Rehman (Revenue) conducted detailed inspections of College Road, Mandian, and other key areas.
During the inspections, authorities removed cigarette stock from shops located within a 50-meter radius of educational institutions and issued stern warnings to the shopkeepers for violating the law.
Furthermore, action was taken against the sale of unauthorized pocket guides around examination centers.
The team also reviewed the prices of food items and ensured compliance with the official rate list in the local markets. In a major step, legal action was taken on the spot against vendors selling illegal, unregistered, and non-customs paid (NCP) cigarettes.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy aimed at saving the younger generation from the curse of drugs and enforcing official rates across the market.
