ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) In light of the ongoing torrential rains and adverse weather conditions across the region, the Abbottabad traffic Police have issued a comprehensive travel advisory urging commuters and tourists to exercise heightened caution.

The advisory outlines several critical safety measures for travelers. Citizens have been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel in hilly areas and to always check the latest weather updates before setting out. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution in landslide-prone zones, maintain low speeds, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. On slippery and wet roads, drivers should apply brakes gently. Night travel is to be avoided as much as possible.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of vehicle preparedness, advising that tires, brakes, and wipers be in good condition before departure.

Drivers are also instructed to keep headlights on during heavy rain or dense fog. Citizens are warned to stay away from streams, nullahs, and areas with fast-flowing rainwater. Extra precautions have been recommended for those traveling with children and family members. While negotiating sharp turns on hilly roads, the use of a horn is advised. In the event of any emergency, the public is reminded to immediately contact the Police Helpline 15.

Officials have warned that heavy rainfall could trigger landslides and flash floods, particularly in Galyat, Thandiani, and other hilly regions of Abbottabad district. Commuters are urged to cooperate fully with law enforcement personnel and to prioritize their safety above all else.
