ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) Police have solved the blind murder case of a Bykea rider who was shot dead in the Kukmang Doga area earlier this month, arresting the prime suspect through technical surveillance, scientific evidence, and professional investigation.
According to police, the victim, Usama, son of Mir Akbar and a resident of Nawanshehr, was murdered after being hired for a ride from Abbottabad to Kukmang. The FIR was registered on June 15 on the complaint of the victim's brother-in-law, Zubair.
Police said investigators analyzed the call detail records (CDRs) of the deceased, local residents, and several suspects, while also examining forensic evidence collected from the crime scene. Technical tracing of the victim's stolen mobile phone led investigators to the prime suspect, identified as Kamil alias Kami, son of Javed and a resident of Pathar Gali, who was subsequently arrested.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed that he had planned the crime due to financial difficulties.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He told investigators that he booked the victim's motorcycle ride for Rs 3,000 from Abbottabad to Kukmang Doga, where he allegedly shot the rider dead with a pistol.
Police said the suspect intended to escape with both the victim's motorcycle and mobile phone, but abandoned the motorcycle after being spotted by a passerby near the crime scene. He fled with the mobile phone.
Investigators further revealed that the following day, the suspect travelled to Boi, hired another Bykea rider to Garhi Habibullah, and sold the victim's mobile phone during the journey. The sale and subsequent tracing of the phone, along with other technical evidence, enabled police to identify and arrest the suspect.
Abbottabad District Police Officer Haroon Rashid Khan commended the investigating team for solving the case through the use of modern technology and scientific methods. Police said further investigation is underway.
