Accused in wheat scandal case get seven years imprisonment each

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) In a major development in wheat scandal case, a court in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sentenced three officials to seven years in prison each and ordered the recovery of approximately Rs. 200 million from them.

According to the case details on Wednesday, the case pertains to large-scale corruption in the provincial food Department.

The Senior Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Peshawar, after finding the accused guilty of criminal misconduct and corruption, announced the verdict along with financial penalties.

Assistant Food Controller Muhammad Khalid Khan and Storage & Enforcement Officer Muhammad Arshad were each sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment.

Both sentences will run concurrently. Additionally, each has been fined Rs. 2 million.

In the same case, retired assistant Tila Muhammad was also sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 1 million.

The court further ordered the joint recovery of Rs. 197,752,200 from all three convicts, stating that failure to pay would result in the amount being recovered as arrears of land revenue under the law.

It is worth noting that the case surfaced during the tenure of Ali Amin Gandapur and former Anti-Corruption Advisor Brigadier Musaddiq Abbasi played a key role in bringing the case to its logical conclusion and securing convictions.
