MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) Intensifying crackdown targeting corrupt elements, Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested six accused over embezzlement of government medicines and a bribery case.
The action was taken under supervision of Regional Director ACE Multan Basharat Nabi in compliance with the standing instructions of Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha to tighten noose around corrupt elements throughout Punjab.
A team led by Deputy Director Investigation Imran Arif Sial and Circle Officer Syed Ali Hassan Gilani conducted a raid on the office of the District Health Officer in Lodhran, where investigators uncovered large-scale embezzlement of government-supplied medicines intended for public hospitals.
Following the raid, FIR No 03/26 was registered and five accused, including Muhammad Minhas, Junior Accountant Muhammad Ramzan, storekeeper Kashif, Salman Saeed and Adnan Saeed were arrested.
ACE officials also recovered a large quantity of medicines from the possession of the accused including 32,000 Amoxil capsules (500 mg) and 5,000 bottles of Calpol syrup.
In a separate development, the ACE Khanewal officials arrested Muhammad Anwar, an employee of the food department after his bail was rejected by the Lahore High Court Multan Bench in case No. 18/2025.
The accused allegedly received Rs 250,000 as a bribe from a citizen on the pretext of providing Baardana (gunny bags) and repeatedly demanded additional illegal payments. The allegations were substantiated during the inquiry conducted by the Anti-Corruption Establishment, following which the suspect was taken into custody after the court dismissed his bail plea, said an official release issued on Monday.
