CHICHAWATNI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) A meeting to review the performance of special price magistrates on Tuesday was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General Niaz Ahmad Mughal here at Montgomery Hall.
The officials were given a detailed briefing on the implementation of the price control mechanism, stability in the prices of essential commodities, measures to curb profiteering, and efforts to provide relief to the public.
Addressing the meeting, Mughal said that ensuring the availability of affordable and quality essential items remained the top priority of the district administration, in line with the directives of the Punjab government.
He emphasized that special price magistrates must strengthen their presence in the field and continue indiscriminate action against the overcharging, hoarding, and profiteering.
He further directed officials to carry out daily market inspections and take effective measures to ensure that food prices remain in line with the officially notified rates.
The meeting was informed that over the past four days, a total of 6,597 inspections had been conducted across the district, resulting in fines amounting to Rs 269,000. Four shops were sealed, and 14 individuals were arrested.
The ADC reiterated the administration’s commitment to further strengthening the price control system to maximise public relief.
