LARKANA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner (I) Larkana, Ghazanfar Ali Shah, presided over a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority held on Wednesday at the Darbar Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Larkana.
The meeting discussed precautionary measures to prevent potential losses from the expected rains across Sindh from March 24 to March 30, 2026.
On this occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (I) Larkana directed the District Health Officer Larkana that during the rains, especially health department staff, including doctors and other personnel, should perform their duties round the clock.
He also emphasized adopting precautionary measures to avoid the effects of rain and storms, and ensuring the availability of vaccines and other medicines to prevent diseases such as diarrhea and malaria.
He further instructed that Rescue 1122 and NGOs providing health services should cooperate with each other during any emergency caused by the expected rains. He also stressed that animals should be vaccinated to protect them from diseases.During the meeting, officials of the Social Welfare Department were directed to raise awareness about non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and to share details of their plans for dealing with the expected rains.
District Health Officer Larkana, Dr. Shaukat Ali Abro, said that emergency wards established in hospitals would have medicines, ambulances, and other necessary facilities available to provide immediate medical assistance in case of any emergency.
The District Manager PPHI Larkana stated that during the expected rains, all health facilities—including regional healthcare centers, taluka headquarters hospitals, and other health centers—would remain operational to handle emergencies. Awareness seminars would also be organized to inform the public about precautionary measures, SOPs, and other important guidelines.
Meanwhile, the in-charge of Sindh Emergency and Health Services, Rescue 1122, informed the meeting that their organization is providing training and awareness to rescue staff to protect people from potential damages caused by the rains. Additionally, their staff and ambulance services will remain available 24 hours a day.Officials from various departments also attended the meeting.
