NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Shaheed Benazirabad, Saddam Hussain Memon, chaired a meeting at Darbar Hall Tuesday to review arrangements for the special anti-polio campaign in six Union Councils of the District.
Addressing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner said that due to drainage disposal in Nawabshah and Old Nawabshah areas, a special anti-polio campaign would commence from May 18. He directed Health Department to ensure all necessary arrangements in this regard. ADC said that the presence of polio virus in drainage water in these Union Councils poses a serious threat to children’s health. Therefore, during the campaign, all children must be administered polio drops as per the set targets.
He also emphasized the need for an effective micro-plan, proper training of polio teams, and ensuring all logistical arrangements for the successful execution of campaign. Officials from Health Department informed the meeting that the campaign would be conducted in Union Councils No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Nawabshah. A total of 17,027 children would be administered polio drops during the campaign. Officials said that for this purpose, 69 teams have been formed, including 65 mobile teams, 1 transit team, and 3 fixed teams.
The meeting was attended by District Health Officer Dr. Mudassar Hussain, DSP Dure Tabish, District Manager PPHI Zakir Hussain Samo, Dr. Riaz Shah, and other officials.
