QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Advisor to the Chief Minister on Women’s Development, Dr Rubaba Khan Bulidi, has emphasized that children are the most valuable asset of any nation and the foundation of its future. She added that ensuring their healthy growth and access to a dignified life is essential for the survival and prosperity of Balochistan.

Dr Rubaba Bulidi made these remarks during a meeting with Professor Dr Rizwana Tareen, President of the Pakistan Pediatric Association (Balochistan Chapter). The two leaders discussed the overall state of child health in the province, improvements in medical facilities, legislative measures, and the need for joint efforts.

Presenting alarming statistics, Dr Rubaba noted that Balochistan has one of the highest neonatal mortality rates in the country, describing it as a matter of grave concern. She further highlighted that over 40 percent of children in the province suffer from stunting due to malnutrition, which directly impacts the physical and cognitive abilities of future generations.

She stressed that tackling these challenges requires not only medical interventions but also social awareness and strong legislation to ensure maternal and child health protection during pregnancy and after birth.

Dr Bilidi affirmed that the Government of Balochistan is committed to amending existing laws and introducing new legislation to safeguard children’s rights and health.

Among the government’s priorities, she listed expanding EPI (Expanded Program on Immunization) coverage to remote areas and enforcing laws promoting breastfeeding awareness and compliance. She praised the role of professional medical associations, noting that pediatric experts’ recommendations must be integrated into government policies.

Dr Rubaba Buledi also underlined that the Department of Women’s Development is equally focused on children’s health alongside women’s rights, as women’s empowerment is closely linked to access to quality healthcare for both mothers and their children.

Both leaders agreed on the need to establish a joint working group dedicated to improving child health in Balochistan. The group will provide technical support for future strategies and legislative processes, ensuring that child health remains a central priority in provincial development.
