PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Three persons, including a woman and two children, were martyred while three others sustained grievous injuries after Indian-sponsored Afghan Taliban resorted to unprovoked aggression in Malik Shaheen village of the Katkot border area in Bajaur.

Security sources said that the Afghan Taliban had been attempting for the past few days to facilitate the infiltration of a group of Fitna al-Khwarij into Pakistan. However, the Pakistan Army foiled the infiltration attempt due to a timely and effective response.

Frustrated by their failure, the Afghan Taliban targeted Pakistan’s civilian population in Katkot, security sources said. In an immediate retaliatory action, the Pakistan Army completely destroyed the gun position from where the firing was carried out from across the border.

In response to the unprovoked aggression, all Afghan Taliban posts adjacent to Bajaur are being targeted, resulting in heavy casualties on their side, the sources added.

Meanwhile, residents of Bajaur strongly condemned the cowardly act and expressed full solidarity with the security forces.

Security forces remain vigilant and determined to protect the lives and property of the people and to ensure lasting peace in the region, the sources said, adding that targeting the civilian population reflects the Afghan Taliban’s malicious intent and desperation.
