Agriculture minister orders reduction in wheat harvesting rates

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani has directed the relevant formations to negotiate with service providers as soon as possible to reduce wheat harvesting rates.

He presided over a meeting of field formations via video link on Saturday.

He further directed the field formations to maintain continuous contact with farmers to ensure that they do not face any difficulties during the wheat harvesting process.

The minister stated that, due to the surge in diesel prices as a result of the Iran war, the government is providing financial support to wheat farmers at the rate of Rs 1,500 per acre.

The Punjab Chief Minister will personally monitor the provision of this financial assistance to wheat farmers, he added.

Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo and other officials also attended the meeting.
