Ahsan asks ministries to submit CPEC 2.0 proposals within three days

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday directed all relevant ministries to submit their recommendations for CPEC 2.0 within three days.

He passed these directives while chairing an online meeting of the Pakistani side of the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a news release said.

The minister also instructed the formation of separate committees for each corridor to ensure focused planning and effective implementation, while emphasizing alignment of the CPEC Long-Term Plan with the 5Cs and 5Es development framework.

During the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal urged ministries to propose two to three flagship projects in connection with the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

He stressed the need to expand comprehensive collaboration under CPEC in key sectors including agriculture, industry, energy and infrastructure to accelerate economic growth.

The meeting reviewed progress on major infrastructure projects, including the Babusar Tunnel, M-10 Motorway and the Rohri-Multan section, with the minister directing authorities to expedite financial processes to ensure their timely completion.
