AIMTH tower to be completed in two years: Salman Rafique

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique said on Friday that Rs 500 million

had been allocated for a new tower at Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital (AIMTH).

He said that tendering process had been completed for this purpose and foundation

stone would soon be laid. He said that new hospital tower, comprising 300 beds,

would be completed on a fast-track basis within two years.

He expressed these views during his visit to AIMTH on the directions of Chief Minister

Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Secretary of Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical

Education Azmat Mahmud and Principal Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College

Sialkot (KMSMCS) Prof Dr Huma Kayani Saigol, were also present on the occasion.

The provincial minister also conducted a detailed inspection of the hospital’s emergency

ward, gynecology OPD, radiology department, and eye ward.

He inquired from patients

and their attendants about the facilities being provided and directed the hospital

administration to further improve cleanliness arrangements.

Azmat Mahmud directed that a comprehensive policy be formulated to manage the

rush of patients and a strategy be formulated to ensure the continuous availability

of stroke injections.

He further said that, on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif,

a cath lab would also soon be established at Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching

Hospital (AIMTH).

He directed that the Names of ward in-charge doctor and duty doctor be prominently

displayed in every ward, that waiting areas be kept clean, and that room temperatures

be maintained appropriately according to the need.
