AJK General Elections-2026 to be held on Time: AEC Usman

MIRPUR (AJK) , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 18th Apr, 2026) Due General Elections -2026 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) state will be held on time, Assistant Election Commissioner (AEC) Usman Munir Sanwala said.

He told in a brief interview to APP here on Saturday Sanwala said "there is no reason for the elections to be postponed".

He catgorically declared that AJK Election Commission will ensure holding of the elections to 53-seat AJK Legislative Assembly in transparent, free, fair and peaceful environment on time under the guidance of AJK Chief Election Commissioner Justice (Retd.

) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, he,added.

He further said that the requise arrangements were afoot to update registered eligible voter lists besides other matters related matters with utmost diligence.

In response to a question, he said that General elections have been continuously held in Azad Jammu Kashmir since 1985 under the parliamentary system of democracy.
